According to police, officers were called to the Dufferin Street and Lawrence West Avenue area around 8pm on March 7 for a knife reported.
Investigators say a 33-year-old man was approached by an unknown suspect who started yelling at him and then stabbed him a few moments later.
The victim was rushed to the hospital with serious injuries.
Police say the suspect was later identified as 29-year-old Robert Vernon, from Mississauga.
On Saturday, Vernon was arrested and charged with attempted murder, possession of a firearm, dangerous weapons and two counts of failing to comply with a release order.
Anyone who has recently had contact with the accused is requested to contact the investigators.
