Police said the body of 46-year-old Tien Ly was found near Eastern and Berkshire Avenues last Monday. Ly is the 17th homicide victim of the year in Toronto. Her body showed signs of injury and some dismemberment. By Wednesday, police said they were looking for her son, who was missing but still unsuspecting. Dallas Ly, 20, is believed by police to have lived with his mother in an apartment near Carlaw Avenue and Dundas Street East. Police said they arrested Ly in Toronto on Saturday. He has been charged with second-degree murder and appeared in court on Sunday, where the case was adjourned until April 8. Const. Laura Brabant, a spokeswoman for the Toronto Police Department, said Ly was not initially a suspect. He said police were worried about his well-being after officers went to the apartment unit where he is believed to be staying. “An investigation has revealed that his son, Dallas Lee, was responsible for the murder of Tien Lee,” Brabant said. “I do not know when the turning point occurred, when it became suspicious.” The charges have not yet been proven in court.
