Fofana lost again last night as the Foxes beat League Two side Stockport County on penalties to progress to the third round of the Carabao Cup. Rodgers said afterwards: “Of course it is [him leaving] happen, the sooner the better, because it might allow us to do some work [in the transfer window]. “He’s training with the under-23s to get his football fitness and continue to work. It’s very important at this stage to control any kind of distractions that might be there. “He’s a good kid, it was just a very difficult situation for him. I’ve had it many times in my career where there are players who can deal with it, deal with it, carry on, want to help their team. There are others who just can’t to deal with distraction. “These guys are paid well. The least you can do is show up [to training]. And if you don’t, with all due respect, you can’t think you can join our team.”
