Anthony Doherty was described by his friends and family as “one of the best”. The 34-year-old unfortunately died at the scene, which happened at 3.40 am. on the A709 Dumfries Road to Lockerbie, near the Dryfesdale Cemetery in Lockerbie, Dumfries and Galloway. His death was confirmed at the scene. Overwhelmed loved ones paid their respects to public posts on social media after the tragedy. A relative of Lenny Doherty wrote: “The light of some people shines so bright that it is only here for a while, but their memories last forever.” They also shared a heartfelt post that read: “How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so difficult.” Another loved one commented: “Antonis was one of the best.” Anthony Doherty has been described as “unique”. One posted: “Absolutely devastating news, my thoughts are with his family. “Sleep well lad, you will surely miss many.” Another wrote: “So sad rip, you will miss so much.” Police confirmed Anthony’s tragic death on Monday night. The officers expressed their condolences and urged those who had camera footage that they could assist in their ongoing investigation.
