The ongoing war in Ukraine raises concerns about global food security, but Prime Minister Justin Trindade says Canada is ready to help supply grain and potash to the world community. Ukraine is a major producer of wheat and other grains and the ongoing war is preventing farmers from sowing their fields. Trinto told reporters after meetings with NATO and G7 leaders in Brussels that Canada was playing a role in helping address global food security. He says they ensure that Canada plants as much as possible, in addition to supplying potash, which is a key ingredient in most fertilizers.
Canada also works with global partners to ensure that other countries maximize their performance.
