Trump’s comments about Truth Social came as his new lead attorney Jim Trusty vowed to “come out swinging” as he prepares to file a new legal challenge against the scope of the Justice Department’s search warrant. Trump has led a barrage of Republican criticism of the FBI over the Aug. 8 search of his private club in Palm Beach, Florida, of classified material he took with him when he left office. The increasingly violent rhetoric has led to a wave of threats against the FBI and federal agents and warnings that it could spark further violence. Commenting on his social media platform on Saturday, Mr Trump wrote: “I am hearing that the top agents and others in the FBI are furious with the FBI leadership for what they are doing in relation to political weaponry against a President (me) who has always he had his own backs, and that they like (love!) a lot.” He argued that agents did not like being used by those they did not “agree with or respect”. Judge Bruce Reinhart said he will make a final decision after the amendments are completed. After days of attacks on federal agents by Republicans, former Vice President Mike Pence called on his party to tone down the rhetoric on Wednesday. “Our party stands with the men and women who stand on the thin blue line at the federal and state and local levels, and these attacks on the FBI must stop,” Pence said. Trump is suspected of taking several boxes of top-secret material with him when he left the White House, including sensitive nuclear information.
