Two people were killed in a motor vehicle accident on Highway 17 near Massey, in which two tractor-trailers and a passenger vehicle were involved. A press release issued today by OPP noted that the passenger vehicle was traveling west and crossed the main line, passing the first tractor trailer sideways. The passenger vehicle continued to travel westward in the east lane before hitting another tractor tractor. The two occupants of the passenger vehicle were found dead at the scene. The dead passenger of the vehicle was identified as Patrick Healy, 51, from Massey. The identity of the driver will be revealed while waiting for the autopsy that is scheduled to take place at the Center for Criminological Sciences. Ontario Provincial Police Manitoulin Squad, Anishinabek Police, Manitoulin-Sudbury Paramedic Services and Sables-Spanish River Fire Department responded to the scene. The IPP investigation is ongoing and is assisted by the department’s Traffic Incident Management Team, a traffic investigator and a reconstructor.
