A man and a woman were found dead at the scene, but the official identification process has not yet taken place, according to a Nottingham police spokesman. They added that the property “suffered severe damage from smoke and fire” and that the adjacent properties were evacuated as fire crews worked to put out the fire. Police and firefighters have launched a joint fire and police investigation to determine the cause of the fire. In a statement, Nottinghamshire Police said: “If you have any information, call Nottinghamshire Police at 101, citing incident number 29 of March 26, 2022.” Lisa Thomas, who has lived on Whittier Road for eight years, told the Nottingham Post: “It’s scary and really upsetting. I heard a lot of commotion and looked out of my door and the house was engulfed in flames. I think so [the emergency services] was here until about 4 in the morning. It’s very sad.” The Nottinghamshire Fire and Rescue Service added that firefighters from London Road, Carlton, West Bridgford, Arnold and Stapleford responded to the fire.
