The two occupants of the car were found dead at the scene of the collision and one of them has been identified as Patrick Healy from Massey. For more information, see the OPP newsletter below. At approximately 2:17 p.m., April 2, 2022, Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Manitoulin Squad, Anishinabek (APS), Manitoulin-Sudbury Paramedic Services and Sables-Spanish River Fire Brigade responded in a double fatal motor vehicle collision on Highway 17 with two tractor trailers and a passenger vehicle. The investigation found that the passenger vehicle was traveling westwards and crossed the main line passing the first tractor trailer laterally. The passenger vehicle continued to travel west in the east lane hitting another tractor trailer in front. The two occupants of the passenger vehicle were found dead at the scene. The dead passenger of the vehicle was identified as Patrick Healy, 51, of Massey. The driver’s identity will be revealed pending an autopsy scheduled at the Center for Forensic Science (CFS) at a later date. The investigation is currently underway with the assistance of the Traffic Incident Management Enforcement Team (TIME), Traffic Collision Investigator and IPP Reconstructor.
