From the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office: An autopsy was performed today on the deceased person found in Prosser Reservoir on Sunday, August 21. The Nevada County Sheriff’s Coroner identified the deceased as 16-year-old Kiely Rodni, of Truckee. The Placer County Sheriff’s Office and the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office are in contact with Kiely’s family and offer our deepest condolences at this extremely difficult time. This is an ongoing investigation and no further information is available at this time. UPDATE at 9:20 a.m. Monday, August 22 TRUCKEE — Divers searching for 16-year-old Kiely Rodni said Sunday they found a car with a body inside near where she attended a huge party weeks ago. The FBI was at the scene as authorities worked to confirm his identity, authorities said. Volunteer divers with a group called Adventures with Purpose said they found Rodni, of Truckee, on Sunday in her car, which they said was upside down under about 14 feet of water in Prosser Reservoir. Their Facebook message said the family had been notified. A website set up by her family was updated on Sunday to say the search had been suspended due to unconfirmed reports. Authorities have not yet identified the body. “We believe he is our missing person,” Nevada County Sheriff Shanan Moon said during a news conference Monday. “We wanted to make sure the family had that information first.” Adventures with Purpose also held a press conference on Monday morning. “Hold your loved ones a little tighter,” said Nick Rinne, with the dive team. “Without your support, none of this would be possible,” added Doug Bishop, also with Adventures with Purpose. Rodni was last seen Aug. 6 near the Prosser Family Campground in Truckee, at a party with hundreds of young people, police said. Her boyfriend, Sami Smith, was at the party with her and said Rodni planned to spend the night at the campsite. “I know he was not in the right frame of mind or condition to drive. And if he was driving, he wouldn’t have gotten far,” Smith told KOVR-TV. Friends and family feared she had been kidnapped. Her phone had been out of service since the party and her silver 2013 Honda CRV had not been found. Marine units from three local sheriff’s offices searched the tank. The investigation spanned a wide area of California and Nevada and involved at least 16 local, state and federal law enforcement agencies. The statement, made around 3.30pm on Sunday, said: “The car is upside down in only 14′ of water. We’ve confirmed that Kiely is in. Family notification. Law enforcement on their way. “We’ll be on stage the rest of the day, we’ll be live tomorrow and we’ll announce what time later this afternoon. “Thank you all for your support and donations to get us here to help Kiely and her family.” The Nevada County Sheriff’s Office said on Facebook that it was aware of the information, had personnel en route to meet with the dive team and would have more information later. Sheriff’s spokesman Andrew Trygg said in an email that there is nothing else to share at this time. Rodni was last seen at a party at the Prosser Family Campground at approximately 12:30 am. on August 6. About 200 to 300 teenagers and young adults from the area and as far away as the Bay Area reportedly attended the party.
