The seizure took place on Monday, March 28, near Valemount, BC, according to a news release from the BC Highway Patrol. Police stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 5. The two men inside behaved in such a way that police believed they were in possession of controlled substances, police said. The BCHP did not say what the men did that led to this belief, nor whether the police had found drugs in their possession. CTV News contacted police for more information but received no response on Friday. Police said in their release that police searched the vehicle after a “positive confirmation of a drug dog”. The investigation yielded about $ 150,000 in “obvious Canadian currency,” as well as six cell phones and “evidence of suspicious banking,” according to the BCHP. The two men were released on parole and given a future court date, pending approval of the charges by Crown’s lawyer, police said, adding that the vehicle in which they stopped was rented and that arrangements had been made for his return.
