A short time later, a vehicle fire believed to be linked to the shooting was reported at 2200 Hope Street in Port Moody’s. It is not yet known if the two shootings were linked, but researchers say both the shootings in Surrey and Coquitlam are linked to gang violence in the Lower Continent. On Saturday afternoon, the representative of IHIT Det. Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi said they still could not confirm whether Langley’s murder was linked to gang violence. Meanwhile, a homicide in Surrey’s Newton neighborhood on Friday morning is not believed to be linked to gang trafficking, though police still have no motive or suspect in the case. Dhesi said there had been a marked increase in violence in the Lower Continent, with IHIT investigating three homicides in four days. [email protected]
