In a separate fire near Mary Tavy, firefighters were joined by police and a mountain rescue team. A command center has also been set up on Bredor Street due to the nature and seriousness of the incident. Devon County Council told drivers to find alternative routes and expect delays in the area. A council spokesman wrote on Twitter: “Police have called for a complete diversion of the A386 road north of Mary Tavy due to a large fire. “Expect delays and find an alternative route where possible.” Passers-by reported that they saw a “very dangerous” fire that had started to spread all over the road.
