The British fighter won the welterweight title on Saturday night after stopping reigning champion Kamaru Usman in the main event of the title fight in Salt Lake City. After being counted out, Edwards (19-3 MMA, 11-2 UFC) landed a head KO that sent Usman (20-2 MMA, 15-1 UFC) to the canvas late in the fifth round. It was a shocking result and easily one of the biggest upsets in UFC history. Usman entered UFC 278 with a previous win over Edwards, five consecutive title defenses and an undefeated UFC record.
