East Vancouver Island has a strong wind warning from Courtenay to Campbell River and Nanoose Bay to Fanny Bay. The southeast winds of 70 km per hour with gusts of up to 90 are expected to last until Sunday morning. Environment Canada says there is a possibility of damage to buildings and strong winds can throw loose objects or break tree branches. West Vancouver Island is in for a rainy day. Up to 100 mm of rain is expected near Zevalos and Tachsis. The rains are expected to last until Monday morning. A break of six to eight hours in continuous rainfall is expected on Sunday before the next meteorological system arrives early Sunday afternoon with a round of heavy rainfall. Environmental Canada says heavy rainfall could cause flash floods and water build-up on roads.
