Rock told the audience on Wednesday night at his sold-out comedy show in Boston that he was still “working on” Smith’s slap on stage at the Oscars, in his first public response to Sunday’s shocking incident.
Dressed in white, Rock, 57, took to the stage at the Wilbur Theater and asked the excited crowd, “Wow, how was the weekend?”
With the crowd handing over their cell phones before the show kicks off, the former Saturday Night Live star was greeted with standing ovations in the first of two sets he performed on Wednesday as part of his Ego Death tour.
However, the usually unobstructed joke quickly turned out to be a joke about the slap that was heard around the world to 3,000 fans, some of whom reportedly paid almost $ 1,000 for a ticket.
“Let me be all foggy and noisy,” he said with tears in his eyes.

The Board of Governors today initiated disciplinary proceedings against Mr. Smith for breaches of the Academy’s Code of Conduct, including inappropriate physical contact, abusive or threatening conduct, and jeopardizing the integrity of the Academy.
According to the Academy’s Code of Conduct, as well as California law, Mr. Smith is given at least 15 days’ notice to vote on his violations and sanctions and the opportunity to be heard in advance through a written response. At the next meeting of the Board on April 18, the Academy may take any disciplinary action, which may include suspension, expulsion or other sanctions permitted by the Articles of Association and the Code of Conduct.

On Wednesday, the Academy said it had initiated “disciplinary proceedings” against Smith and confirmed that it had ignored their request to leave his headquarters. They also apologized to Rock.
Smith was asked to leave by David Rubin, the president of the Academy, and CEO Dawn Hudson, TMZ reported.
Two sources told the site that Rubin and Hudson were “furious” with Smith and that there were many “voices” and “heated discussions” behind the scenes with his representatives after the incident.

In his opening remarks, Smith apologized to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences – whose members vote on the awards and host the ceremony – but did not apologize to Rock.
Smith initially laughed at the attack, writing on Instagram on Sunday night: “You can not invite people from Philly or Baltimore anywhere!”
However, as the seriousness of the situation became clear, Smith posted a public apology on Instagram 24 hours after the ceremony, saying he wanted to formally apologize to Rock.
He said his behavior was “unacceptable and unjustified” and left him “ashamed”.
“I would like to apologize publicly to you, Chris,” he wrote.
“I was out of line and I was wrong. I am ashamed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be.
