On March 26, at about 7:30 a.m., Rogers was walking to the front door of her home when a black four-door sedan suddenly popped up on her Boydon 4300 block. An armed man stepped out of his passenger seat and ran to Rogers to ask for money. “I’m still in shock,” Rogers said. Rogers threw what she was holding at the man. She then searched Roger’s pockets before taking her bag, running back to the vehicle and leaving. “I treat people well,” Rogers said. “So why me?” Her brother installed security cameras in her home the day before the robbery, but she did not think she would need them in the Pamela Heights subdivision. “It’s a good neighborhood,” he said. “I have never had a problem.” On March 25, a house down the street in Boynton was hit by multiple shots in the front windows. The homeowner declined to speak to the camera, but said he had noticed more crime in the neighborhood. According to information provided by the Houston police, the radius of half a mile around Boydon has also seen cases of heavy attack, theft of a motor vehicle and robbery in 2022. Rogers said she was suddenly caught stealing, but has since bought a gun and will not be surprised again. “I’m ready,” he said. Police describe the robbery suspect as a black man, about 5 feet and 8 inches tall, wearing a crimson hood, blue jeans and white shoes and most likely driving a Hyundai Elantra.
