The victim of Thursday’s attack on Bethnal Green in east London was 40-year-old Yasmin Begum, who lived in the area. Quyum Miah, 40, has been charged with murder, burglary and two counts of fraudulent fraud, Scotland Yard said. Mr Miah, from High Street, Homerton, is due to appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court later today. Police were called to Globe Road on Thursday afternoon after school staff sounded the alarm when Ms Begum did not arrive to pick up her children. She was found with knife wounds and despite the efforts of the emergency services, her death was confirmed at the scene. An autopsy on Saturday determined the cause of death as multiple stab wounds, according to police. Anyone with information is kindly requested to contact the Meteorological Police. Chief Inspector Detective Lawrence Smith, who is leading the investigation into the murder, had previously said it was “heartbreaking that another woman was killed”.
